Ambassador We are a church with the name Embassy. We are ambassadors, not of the Kingdom of The Netherlands, but of the Kingdom of God. How do you become an ambassador? Created with a purpose When God created man it was His intention that man would rule over the earth. It was also His intention that man would do this in close relationship with Him, his Creator. The most important feature of this relationship was love, and the most important characteristic of love is that one is free to choose for the other. A broken relationship Unfortunately the first man and woman chose to break their relationship with God. From that moment on the world changed and death entered the picture. The Bible calls this “sin”. “Sin” means literally that we fail to achieve our purpose. Man, because of his break with God, could no longer achieve what he had been created for. This is still the situation today. We all know that we will eventually die. A new initiative God is love. He therefore took the initiative to restore the broken relationship with mankind. Man cannot brigde the gap that exists between God and himself. None of us is perfect enough to be able to relate to God. God knew this. That is why He sent His only, perfect son to the earth to become a man like us. By dying on the cross Jesus bridged the gap. He actually died in our place. This gives us the oppportunity to have a relationship with God again. New Life The good news is that Jesus did not only die, but that He rose again from the dead. This means that we have the opportunity to start a new life. This new life does not end when our physical lives do. The special thing is is that we do not have to wait, but that this new spiritual life can begin today!! Free choice Who is this for? God meant it to be for everyone. But just as in the beginning, everyone has a free choice in relation to their relationship with God. Once again, this relationship is characterised by love. God even wants to accept you as His child! As His children we can enjoy our relationship with our heavenly papa. We can be His ambassadors here and now. How do you make this choice? Just like you say “I do” to your partner in a wedding ceremony, you can also say “I do” to God. This “I do” is done by asking God into your life and by giving Him the control. You can do this by praying. Prayer "God, I acknowledge you as the only God. I cannot have a relationship with you by myself. God, forgive me for all of the things that I have done wrong. I believe that Jesus is Your Son, that He died for me and that He is my way to You. Lord Jesus, come into my life and have the most important place. Father, thank you that I can be Your child and Your ambassador. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit. Thank you. Amen." What now? You can find all of these things in the Bible. Read the Bible. If you do not have one, try to get one. You also need to pray. Prayer is simply talking to your heavenly Father. Look for other Christians who can help you.
